Lying on the coast, approximately 30Km south of Valencia city the old town of Cullera is unusual for the Mediterranean coast for having its fishing fleet moored on the river banks.
The old town itself (which is overlooked by a 13th century moorish castle) sits around 1Km inland and now has a development of hotels and apartment blocks on the beautiful sandy beach of Cullera Bay. Within the castle grounds you will find the 19th century Sanctuary of the Virgen del Castillo.
Within the old town, and by the riveride, you will find a choice of bars and retaurants, many offering dishes featuring freshly caught fish, and locally grown rice and vegetables.
Cullera has a rail link with Valencia, and south to Gandia, with trains running approximately every half hour.
The surrounding area is agricultural, with citrus fruit growing to the south, and rice growing to the north.
