The town of Buñol (Bunyol in Valencian), best know to many for it,s tomato fight fiesta (la Tomatina), held on the last Wednsday of August, when participants throw over a 100tonnes of tomatos at each other.
Lying 40Km inland from Valencia city, the town sits just under 400m above sea level, in an agricultural area (growing almonds olives, grapes and cereals).
The town is overlooked by the partially ruined 12th century castle, a christian castle built on the site of a moorish castle.
Buñol has a regional rail connection with Valencia and Cuenca.
