Located in the most southerly tip of Valencia province on the nothern slopes of the Sierra Mariola, 50Km inland from the coastline, Bocairent is one of those gems of a place that you can sometimes stumble across in Spain. The town is squeezed onto a small area of high ground between two ravines.
The town has many attractive buildings and narrow cobbled streets, many of which are too narrow, or just not suitable, for cars. There is a selection of bars/restaurants, both on the edge of the town and in the Town Hall Square (Placa de L'Adjuntament) in the centre. There are also two museums, and a bullring which is the oldest in Valencia, carved into the rock
Across the valley on the northern side of the town is the location of a group of Moorish caves (Covetes Dels Moros) which can be visited.
