The town of Pilar de la Horadada lies around 2Km inland from the southern Costa Blanca coastline, 15km south of Torrevieja, and just north of the Mar Menor and the regional border with Murcia. The town has a good selection of shops bars and restaurants and the surrounding area is mostly agricultural, growing vegetables on the flat fertile land.
The AP7 motorway passes just to the east of the town, giving good access to either San Javier or Alicante airport.
While the main town is located just inland, there is a more modern development on the coast named Torre de la Horadada, after the 16th century watchtower built to protect the town from pirates, and still in existance today. Here you will find all the facilities of a coastal resort with sandy beaches and a marina offering watersports.
