Located just over 30 minutes from the coast via a dramatic road going over the Sierra de Benicadell, the large village of Beniarres nestles against the mountain, just north of the Almudaina and Planes reservoir, at around 400m above sea level. It is however possible to cycle to the coast mostly on the old railway line which followed the river Serpis, which runs from the reservoir, on it's way through some very stunning scenery to Gandia.
The village has a good selection of bars and restaurants, with a small selection of shops.
The surrounding area is agricultural, mostly growing olives and almonds.
