Located half way between Benidorm and Calpe, and approximately 45Km north east of Alicante city, the Costa Blanca town of Altea is a popular tourist destination.
A big part of its charm lies in the old town (which dates from the time of the Moors), just a short walk uphill from the beach, overlooked by the blue domed church, and with its quaint cobbled streets. The beach here is mostly pebbles with some sand, with a marina at the southern end.
You will find a good selection of restuarants and bars, both in the old town, and along the long paseo, by the sea.
Altea has a station on the tramway which runs from Alicante (approximately 1hr 10mins) to Denia (approximately 1hr 20mins).
