The town of Albatera lies approximately 30Km south west of Alicante city, beside the A7 motorway (mid distance between Orihuela and Crevillente), in what is principally a fertile agricultural area growing citrus fruit, olives, and pomegranites.
The town has a baroque catholic church built in 1727 (church of St James).
