The large artesan town of Totana lies below the Sierra Espuña, approximately 70Km inland from the Costa Calida coast of Murcia province.
Pottery production has been associated with Totana since medieval times and continues today, with many family run potteries to visit.
The impressive church (Parroquia de Santiago Apostol) was built in the mid 16th century, with the tower being built in the early 17th century. There is also a large and decorative prison built in the 17th century, now the town cutural centre.
Totana is also well supplied with bars, restaurants, and other pleces of interest.
