The town of Torre Pacheco is located 8 Km inland from the Mar Menor on the Costa Calida, Murcia region.
The town has a relatively modern and spread-out centre with a number of bars, restaurants, and shops. There is a market on Saturdays.
The town has a railway station on it's western edge with around 6 trains per day linking it with Cartagena and Murcia.
The surrounding area is flat fertile land mostly growing vetetables and salad crops. Just to the north lies the Cabezo Gordo, a hill which stand out in the surrounding flat area, where Neanderthal remains have been found. The area also has a number of ruined windmills, which have previously ground grain, milled olives, or pumped water.
There are now a number of golf courses in the area.
