This is a small very pretty village surrounded by mountains, the highest being Sierra de Ricote but is not located on the River Seguro. It has a few shops, bars and restaurants with a market held every Monday, and lots of Moorish architecture, including a ruined castle dating from the 11th century. The Ricote Valley was in-fact the last Moorish stronghold on the eastern coastal strip of the country (the Levante). The village also ha an imposing Baroque church dating from the 18th century.
The surrounding area is agricultural, mostly growing citrus fruit.
It is an area known for outdoor pursuits such as walking, climbing, cycling etc. Murcia city is 40 minutes away and the airport 75 minutes as is Alicante airport.
