Puerto de Mazarron (sometimes simply refered to as Mazarron although that name really applies to the old town 5Km from the coast) has one of the most attractive coastline of this part of Spain, with beautiful sandy bays with rocky islands.
Although there are some older buildings here, Puerto de Mazarron is mostly a modern holiday development and gets busy in the summer. A litle further east you will find the more peaceful development of Isla Plana.
As the name suggests, there is a commercial fishing port here with a marina attached, plus a further separate marina. Infact the bay has a long tradition for boating, as evidenced by the two phoenecian boat wrecks (around 2500 years old) which have been found here.
There is a good selection of bars and restaurants along the sea front.
