Murcia, like most Spanish cities,is full of history and attractive architecture, and is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful, standing on the banks of the river Segura, 45 Km inland from the Costa Calida.
Murcia Cathedral is considered to be a masterpiece from the Spanish Baroque period in the Gardenal Belluga Square, where you will also find the 18th century Episcopical Palace. The cathedral was started in 1388 and the building work spanned 4 centuries.
A tram system connects the university to the city centre (the tram runs to within 1Km of the cathedral), and on to the football stadium and shopping centres.
There are of course many more beautiful buildings, monuments, museums, bars and restaurants in this university city.
