This is a large village with a good choice of shops, restaurants and cafes, with a market held every Friday.
It is situated in the valley of Ricote on the banks of the River Seguro, 40 kms from the city of Murcia with the main part of the town built on the side of a small hill, with the Paseo de la Ermita having fine views across the valley (though difficult to approach by car).
It is well known for it's waterwheels, the main one being Noria Grande, a 12m diameter wheel lifting irrigation water from the river. These were part of the irrigation systems developed by the moors.
