The Valderrama golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones and built in 1985, 4Km inland from the Costa del Sol near Sotogrande, surrounded by mature cork oak trees.

A championship course with fairways that have been described as the best in Europe, Valderrama was never designed to be an easy course. This has been the location of the PGA Volvo Masters for 20 years up to 2008.
