The very small village (with a population of 120 in 2016) of Pontils lies approximately 45Km inland from the Costa Dorada coastline, in the northerm part of Tarragona province.
The village is at just under 600m above sea level in a fertile valley growing cereals and veteables, between ridges of higher ground forested with pine and oak trees.
