Mora la Nova is situated on the northern side of the River Ebro (across the river from Mora d'Ebre), around 25 Km inland from the Costa Dorada and 40Km from the River Ebro Delta.
The surrounding area is mostly agricultural, growing a wide range of fruit trees, and the River Ebro here is poplar for fishing, particularly for carp.
The town has a rail connection to Reus and Taragona, and in the past, was the site of the largest rail depot in Spain, home to 100 steam locomotives. This is now the site of a rail museum which is open to the public.
