An attractive village on the western bank of the river Ebro, approximately 25km inland from the Costa Dorada coastline, with an impressive castle high above which is open to the public. The castle dates back to at least 1153 and has played an important role in many batles since then, upto and including the Spanish Civil War which was fiercely fought in this area.
The castle is best approached by the footpath that runs from near the river bank as this will take you past attrictive houses and a church before rising up. However the castle can also be approached directly by road.
At river level you will find a choice of bars offering Spanish food.
If Miravet is approached from the other side of the river Ebro, a small ferry using the river's current as it's power source can take you and your car across.
