El Catllar is a small village approximately 5Km inland from the Costa Dorada, 10Km northeast of Tarragona, giving good access by car to some excellent beaches.
The vallage wraps around a small hill (on which stands a castle dating from the 11th century) on the western bank of the river Gayá.
The village is large enough to provide facilities for shopping and public transport while the surrounding area is largely agricultural, growing almond and carob trees, or forested with pine trees.
