Situated on the southern bank of the great river Ebro, Amposta sits on the edge of the Ebro Delta Natural Park, 6Km inland at the southern end of the Costa Dorada.
The historic town has some attractive architecture but it's main attractions are the river Ebro and the fishing there, together with the nature reserve and nearby sandy beaches. The old approach to the town from the north crosses the river via a suspension bridge built in 1919.
