Lérida (known as Lleida in Catalan), the capital city of Lerida province which runs all the way upto the Pyrenees, may not be very well known, but has many charms to please the visitor. It is more open than some Spanish Cities with large green spaces by the river.

The most spectacular sight in Lerida must be the historic cathedral Seu Vella, sitting high above the city dating back to around the year 1200. You will enjoy walking in the cloisters, admiring the detailed stonework in Romanesque and Gothic styles, and taking in the breathtaking views of the surroundings.

The city also has plazas and street cafes/restaurants where you can watch the world go by.
Lérida can be accessed by train, including High Speed AVE services from Madrid and Barcelona.
