Lying approximately 40Km inland from the Costa Brava coastline and 4Km from the French border, the village of Macanet De Cabrenys sits just under 400m above sea level, in a valley at the foot of the eastern end of the Pyrenees.
The surrounding landscape is green, being watered by numerous springs and streams (some of which are pure enough to be bottled), with pastures around the village and pine trees on the lower slopes of the mountains (the French border at this point sits at around 1400m above sea level).
The village has some intersting architecture and narrow cobbled streets, but is large enough to have a small selection of bars/restaurants, shops, and banks.Macanet de Cabrenys
