The town Figueres, located approximately 12 Km inland from the Costa Brava, and 30 Km north of the city of Gerona in the north east corner of Spain, was placed very firmly on the map when one Salvador Dali was born there in 1904.
The Dalà Theatre and Museum, designed by the artist himself, is dedicated to Dali's life and work, housing the single largest collection of his paintings, sculptures and 3 dimensional collages from various stages of his career.
Figueres has good rail connections with the main station on the eastern side of the town. The new AVE high speed train has its own station a little further away on the western side giving connections to Barcelona and Perpignan. It is understood that all rail sevices are to move to this station in the future.
