Situated in it's own bay on the Cap de Creus peninsula of the northern Costa Brava, Cadaqués is a little gem of a place, with it's white painted houses running down to the sea, and the hills behind. Cadaqués also has a number of large ornate houses built by people who returned to the town after having emigrated to Cuba to make their fortune when this was a relatively poor fishing village.
Consequently, it became a favourite with a number of artists, including Salvador DalÃ. For the same reason it is also popular with those wanting a holiday home and tourists in general but development has been controlled and the town retains it's charm.
The town itself has a small beech but there others that can be accessed via the coastal path.
