The large town of Vilanova I La Geltrú lies on the Barcelona province coastline, approximately 6Km south west of the popular resort of Sitges, and 45Km south west of Barcelona city.
The town has good access to the C32 motorway and the main railway line between Barcelona and Tarregona.
Originally a small fishing town which has gown, it's port has grown also, such that the combined port and marina is now the third largest port in Catalunya. There are also a number of historic buildings.
Either side of the port there is a wide sandy beach with a wide selection of watersports available, and smaller coves beyond.
The town itself provides excellent shopping facilities, bars and resturants (with plenty of locally caught fish). You will also find some nighlife in the bars and clubs.
