Els Prats de Rei is a small village with a Baroque church, approximately 60Km north west of Barcelona city and 50Km from the northern Costa Dorada, in a rural area of Catalunya approximately 600m above sea level.
The village has some stunning architecture, including the 17th century Baroque styled Santa Maria church with its hexagonal tower, and the 16th century town hall building.
Approximately 2Km south you will find the ruins of an 11th century castly with a well preserved watchtower (Torre de la Manresana).
The surrounding area is agricultural, mostly growing cereal crops.
