Located 40Km west of Burgos, the historic village of Castrojeriz sits at 800m above sea level, and wraps around the southern side of a low hill (on which is a ruined castle). This village is a popular stop on the Camino de Santiago.
The village has several notable buildings including the Church of Nuestra Señora del Manzano which was begun in the 13th century, and the Church of San Juan dating from the 16th century. Just outside the village are the remains of the Convent of San Antón convent, which used to cater for the sick pilgrims who travelled along the camino.
