The Cabaneros National Park , situated in western Castilla La Mancha, in the
provinces of Toledo and Ciudad Real, has wooded areas and savana like patures that have been described as African in nature, and extends to a total of 41,000Ha.
The lush pastures, mountain ranges and massifs covered in forests and Mediterranean scrub, are typical of the landscape and the park is a birdwatchers paradise.
Bird species present include Spanish Imperial Eagles, Griffon and Black Vultures, Montagu's Harriers, Black Kites, and Black Shouldered Kites.
You may also find Black and Black-eared Wheatear, Black Storks, Rollers, along with Hoopoes
and Bea-eaters can be seen in the Spring and Summer.
Over 250 species of invertebrates are to be a found in the park, 25% of which are under threat.
