The town of Sant Lluis (founded in the 18th century by the French while they occupied the island) lies 5Km south of the capital, Mahon, in the south east corner of Menorca, and is the most easterly part of Spain.
Travelling north, east, or south from the town for just 4Km brings you to a varied coastline which is part of the municipality. This coastline is mostly rugged but with sandy beaches mostly now developed into significant resorts, including Punta Prima, Binebeca, Alcafar and s'Algar.
