Situated approximately 25 km inland from the Costa Verde coast and the city of Gijon, Bimenes lies in an agricultural area close to the Redes Natural Park. The area was previously noted for it's coal mining but now is much better known for the cider production.
In the area is a 5Km walk passing by a number of watermills, some restored, and there is also a radio museum. Nearby, you will also find the 17th century Palace of the Estrada Marquees.
