Lying approximatly 50Km inland from Costa Dorada, and slightly further to the northern end of the Costa del Azahar, at just over 500m above sea level, Calceite is a small town with some stunning architecture and a significant number of archaeological sites. The town, which is the cultural capital for this area known as Matarraña, wraps itself around the eastern side of a small hill.
The surrounding area is agricultural, gowing mostly olives and almonds.
