The small town of Albarracin, declared a national monument in 1961, features a moorish fortress (Alcazar) built in the 10th and 11th century, with further additions after the reconquest, and old city walls that are still in existance. There is also a 16th century cathedral.
Albarracin, located just under 30 Km from the city of Teruel is thought by many to be one of Spain's most attractive villages.
The town and fortress are built on a hill overlooking the green valley of the Guadalaviar river which almost encircles the town, surrounded by the rugged Sierra de Albarracin.
Within the town's narrow medieval streets, sometimes steep and cobbled, you will find a small selection of bars, restaurants, and a museum.
