The pueblo blanco of Cortes de la Frontera is located approximately 30Km inland from the western Costa de Sol coastline and 20Km south west of Ronda. The village sits at 600m above sea level, against the south east facing slopes of the Sierra de los Pinos, part of the Siearrania de Ronda, and is close to both the Sierra de Grazalema and The Alcornorcales natural parks.
The main street of the village has some impressive 18th century buildings, a sign of the villages past wealth from the cork industry, which still continues in the area.
The village has a small selection of banks and shops, plus a selection of bars and restaurants.
