The small village of Fontanar lies 5Km from the town of Pozo Alcón and 12Km from the Embalse de Negratin lake, in south east Jaen province (and also in the south east Sierra de Cazorla).
The village sits beside a small rocky ridge in an agricultural area, predominantly growing olives.
