The pretty village of Pitres, in the Alpujarras, sits at approximately 1200m above sea level, on the road that winds up to Spain's highest village of Trevelez, which sits at around 1700m.
Pitres gives good access to walking/cycling/riding country without being as "touristy" as some better known villages and the historic city of Granada lies approximately 75km to the north west.
The area immediately around the village is partly agricultural but 2Km north and rising a further 300m gets you into the forested area.
