Situated 25Km east of Motril on the Costa Tropical coastline, and around 150Km from the city of Granada, the village of La Mamola occupies a narrow strip of land between the beach and the nearby hills. The N340 road runs between the village and hillside and had previously been a busy road running along this coastline, but is now bypassed by the new A7 motorway.
The village has a small selection of shops, banks, bars and restaurants.
The hills behind are quite agricultural with vegetables being grown in greenhouses.
