Possibly best known for its proximity to Gibraltar, La Linea de la Concepcion (often simply known as La Linea), as its name suggests, sits adjacent to the border between Spain and Gibraltar.
The links with Gibraltar have been strong in recent years with a large proportion of the La Linea inhabitants working on the rock, which relies heavily on La Linea for the supply of fruit, vegetables and meat.
The beaches of Playa de Levante and Playa de Santa Barbara lie on the eastern and western sides of the town.
