Originally a fishing village dating from Phoenician times, the attractive pueblo blanco (quite a large town really, and considered by some to be the most attractive on teh costa) of Conil de la Frontera sits 1 Km inland from the Costa de la Luz, in the province of Cadiz.
The small old centre of the town is big enough to have a good selection of tapas bars and restaurants where seafood will be a speciality.
The local beach, Playa de los Bateles, is part of a 16Km long stretch of flat fine white sand that typifies this coastline, with much of it being undeveloped. Any development along the coast has been well controlled low-rise.
