The historic town of Chipiona lies on the Costa de la Luz, almost due west of Jerez de la Frontera, to the north of the Bay of Cadiz. The town effectively sits at the southern side of the mouth of the Guadalquivir river. To the north east lies the wetlands of the Doñana National Park and rice growing fields.
The area has beautiful wide sandy beaches and the town is well supplied with bars and restaurants where you will find plenty of sea food available. Due to the local terrain being fairly flat, Spain's tallest lighthouse is located here.
