The small town of Turre sits 5Km inland from Mojacar Playa, on the Costa de Almeria, having a backdrop of the Cabrera Mountains, the Rio Aguas valley. The town is originally of Moorish origin - a settlement being built here by Moors who had been driven out of Mojacar.
There is an attractive old part of the town with narrow streets, and more modern developments on the outskirts.
You will find a small selection of shops and banks together with a good selection of bars and restaurants.
There is a busy traditional market on Fridays.
