Located on the northern end of the Costa de Almeria, the village of San Juan de los Terreros has some of the best sandy beaches of this costa, together with attractive rocky outcrops. One small rocky outcrop on the beach has a number of cave dwellings, almost n the water.
The old village itself is quite small but with a selection of bar/restaurants on the outskirts, plus some modern chiringitos on the main beach. Almost hidden near the centre of the town are some small sandy coves, one with it's own chiringito. There are some small urbanisations on the edges of the town.
The surrounding area hes seen a number of urbanisations being built in recent years, and the Aguilon Golf Golf Course is nearby.
