Almanzora is a small village lying approximately 30 Km inland from the Costa de Almeria, in the citrus growing valley of the Almanzora River, at the eastern end of Almeria province. Although originally a small village, the area has seen a lot of construction of new houses in recent years.
A surprising feature of this small town is the 18th century neo classical Palace of the Marquis of Almanzora. The building originally housed grain stores, oil mills and administrative rooms but is understood to have been converted to a palace in the 19th century.
The town has a small number of shops and bars but the much larger town Albox, with all amenities, lies approximately 6 Km to the north
