La Manga del Mar Menor is a unique place at the northern end of the Costa Calida coast of Murcia province coast where a narrow strip of land separates the Mediterranean from a shallow inland sea (Mar Menor).
The Mar Menor tends to become warmer than the Mediterranean in the summer due to being no more than 7 m deep and also has a higher mineral content, making it good for relieving rheumatism or skin problems.
La Manga sits on the strip of land 20Km long which separates the two seas, and is quite densely built on the first part, thinning out along its length.
The area to the south of the Mar Menor is known as La Manga Club,having some well known golf clubs and other sporting facilities.
