Laredo, on the Costa Verde coastline of Cantabria, approximately halfway between Santander and Bilbao, is famous in the area for its long sandy beach (La Salvo). The old part of the town dates back to the middle ages and was declared an Historic-Artistic Site in 1970.
Laredo has an impressive Flower Battle festival held on the last Friday in August.
