The town of Torrox lies in an area known as Axarquia, approximately 45Km east of Malaga City, 4 Km inland from the Costa del Sol coastline and wide sandy beches(the more modern development on the coast being known as Torrox Costa).
Torrox is a typical Moorish whitewashed town with narrow streets, set just back from the sea on higher ground, with an imposing 16th century church at it`s centre.
This area was also important in Roman times, and a number of roman ruins exist.
