The village of Colmenar located 30 Km north of Malaga city, nearly 700m (2,100ft) above sea level in the mountains inland from the eastern Costa del Sol is approached by a road that winds it's way up from the city.
Colmenar is considered to be the capital of the Malaga mountain villages, and like other villages in the area, has history relating back to the Christaians, Moors and Romans.
You will find stunning viewpoints from higher locations in the village or you may wish to sample the local cuisine in one of the bar/restaurants, and then there is the local honey (the name Colmenar means beehive).
