Benajarafe, a village just inland from the Costa del Sol, with mountains behind, 15Km east of Malaga city, has newer developments by the coast.
The two parts are referred to as Benajarafe Alto and Benajarafe Costa. The Costa is now a bustling little resort (mostly low-rise) and benefits from a wide sandy beaching stretching for 2Km. There is also some commercial fishing in the area, mostly for sardines, anchovies and mackerel.
