An old fishing village situated on the Río Piedras estury, sheltered from the Atlantic by a spit of land called La Flecha (the Arrow), El Rompido is located approximately half way between the city of Huelva and the Portuguese border, on the Costa de la Luz.
The nearest sandy beaces and sand dunes on the spit, which can be accessed by boat trip accross the inlet, but there are many more sandy beaches to choose from.
