The old whitewashed town of Salobre?a lies on a small hill just a kilometer back from the Costa Tropical coastline of Granda province, overlooked by a Moorish castle. The surrounding area grows sugar cane, the only place in Europe where sugar is produced from cane.

On the coast the low rise, more modern development caters for the tourists needs by the beach, including plenty of bars and restaurants serving seafood.
Salobre?a is well located for visiting the city of Granada or the Alpujarras, both less than an hours drive away, or the Sierra Nevada which is just over an hours drive.
In-fact, at certain times of the year, it would be possible to be skiing on snow in the morning, then get back in time to sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon.
