Galera is a small village in the Altiplano area of northern Granada province, with a history going back some 4,000 years, and at an altitude of around 830m.
There is some unusual landscapes surrounding Galera including remarkable sparkling crystal deposits, where an interior lake has dried out over the years, leaving fascinating rock formations, and is dominated by the surrounding mountains of Sagra, Castril, Cazorla.
You will also find a large number of cave houses in and around Galera - a most practical type of home that is cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
