The town of Albox, lying in the Almenzora Valley approximately 30 minutes drive from the Costa de Almeria, has an attractive old part but has expanded over the years, a number of these new developments being home to British. The wide Almanzora valley, though only having a small river flowing through it, is relatively lush compared to the surrounding dry hillsides.
The town provides a full range of amenities, has a large number of bars and restaurants, and a large market on Tuesdays.
